Aloe decorsei is a species of aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet decorsei honors the French botanist and entomologist Gaston-Jules Decorse (1873–1907), who collected from 1898 to 1900 in Madagascar.

description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe decorsei grows easily and without trunk. The twelve to 15 somewhat sickle-shaped leaves form rosettes . The green leaf blade is 60 to 70 inches long and 5 to 6 inches wide. The whitish-brown teeth on the leaf margin are 1 to 1.5 millimeters long.

Inflorescences and flowers

The simple inflorescence reaches a length of 80 to 120 centimeters. The loose grapes are 18 to 30 centimeters long. The inverted lanceolate, briefly pointed bracts have a length of 15 millimeters and are 6 millimeters wide. The bell-shaped, yellow flowers turn green at the mouth and stand on 3 to 4 millimeter long flower stalks . Their edges are white. The flowers are 20 to 22 millimeters long and narrowed briefly at their base. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 18 to 20 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus do not protrude from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe decorsei is widespread in Madagascar in the Andringitra Mountains on gneiss slopes at altitudes of 1600 to 2200 meters.

The first description by Henri Perrier de La Bâthie was published in 1926.
