Aloe kahinii is a species of aloes in the subfamily of the Affodilla family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet kahinii honors Dahir Riyale Kahin , the former President of Somaliland .

description

Vegetative characteristics

Aloe kahinii grows compact, branched and forms small groups. The approximately 16 spreading leaves are narrowly lanceolate-pointed and slightly bent back at the tip. The cloudy gray-green leaf blade is 22 inches long and 4 inches wide. The firm, brown-tipped teeth on the leaf edge are 3 millimeters long and 5 to 6 millimeters apart. The leaf juice dries yellow.

Inflorescences and flowers

The inflorescence consists of up to five branches and reaches a length of 40 to 50 centimeters. The almost dense, cylindrical grapes are up to 15 centimeters long. The bracts have a length of 14 millimeters and are 3 to 4 millimeters wide. The cylindrical, cloudy scarlet flowers are on 13 millimeter long peduncles . The flowers are 30 millimeters long. At the level of the ovary , the flowers are 4 to 5 millimeters in diameter. Your outer tepals are not fused together over a length of 10 millimeters. The stamens and the stylus protrude 3 millimeters from the flower.

Systematics and distribution

Aloe kahinii is common in Zaire in crevices on granite deposits at altitudes of about 2450 meters.

The first description by Thomas A. McCoy and John Jacob Lavranos was published in 2007.
