Aloe macra is a species of aloes in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet macra comes from Latin , means 'slim' and refers to the slender trunks of the species.

Vegetative characteristics
Aloe macra grows in a stem-forming manner. The trunk is up to 30 centimeters long. The ten to twelve, sword-shaped, narrowed leaves form loose rosettes . The green leaf blade is 30 to 35 inches long and 3 inches wide. The red teeth on the red leaf margin are small.
Inflorescences and flowers
The inflorescence is simple or consists of a branch and reaches a length of 30 centimeters. The dense, cylindrical grapes are 10 to 15 centimeters long. The lanceolate bracts have a length of about 3 millimeters. The reddish orange flowers turn yellow at the tip and have flower stalks about 10 millimeters long . They are 13 to 14 millimeters long. The stamens do not protrude from the flower.

Aloe macra is common in Réunion on dry hills.
The first description by Adrian Hardy Haworth was published in 1819. Nomenclatory synonyms are Phylloma macrum (Haw.) Sweet (1827) and Lomatophyllum macrum (Haw.) Salm-Dyck ex Schult. & School f. (1829).
