The old Catholic parish church of St. Barbara in Weibern , a local community in the Ahrweiler district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built between 1888 and 1890 and is located at Kirchstrasse 2.

history

The St. Barbara church, which is now a listed building , was built between 1888 and 1890 according to the plans of the Düsseldorf architect Caspar Clemens Pickel . The hall building made of tuff ashlars is built in a neo-Gothic style. The polygonal church tower dominates the portal facade .

The new church, below the old one and connected to an intermediate wing, was also opened on July 1, 1973 in honor of St. Barbara ordained .

Furnishing

The high altar from the 19th century shows the crucifixion group at the top , St. Aloysius and on the left St. Barbara , the patron saint of stone cutters . On the west wall of the choir showing mural painting , the Holy Family and on the east wall the Coronation of the Virgin . To the right of the choir is the Marien Altar and to the left the Joseph Altar. The pulpit is decorated with the four evangelists . There are sculptures of saints on the pillars of the nave . The tracery windows , the font and the war memorial in the vestibule are made by local stonemasons.
