Alto Sermenza is an Italian commune (comune) with 151 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Vercelli , Piedmont region .
geography
The municipality is located in the Val Sermenza , a side valley of the Valsesia . The alpine municipality covers around 60 square kilometers and is part of the Parco naturale Alta Valsesia nature park .
The municipality includes the three villages Rima, Rimasco and San Giuseppe (of which Rima San Giuseppe and Rimasco each form a fraction ) and the small settlements of Balmelle, Cà di cell, Campo Ragozzi, Dorca, Ferrate, Oro and Priami.
The neighboring municipalities are Alagna Valsesia , Boccioleto , Carcoforo , Fobello , Mollia , Riva Valdobbia and Rossa .
history
The municipality of Alto Sermenza was created on January 1, 2018 through the merger of the previous municipalities of Rima San Giuseppe and Rimasco on the basis of Regional Law No. 14 of October 10, 2017. A prior referendum in June 2017 had a clear majority in both municipalities at the time surrendered for the merger.
