The Alvis Firefly was a passenger car that Alvis manufactured from 1932 to 1934. It replaced the 12/50 TJ model .
The car had an in - line four - cylinder engine with overhead valves . Equipped with a single SU carburetor, the engine with 1496 cc had an output of 50 bhp (37 kW) at 4500 rpm. The engine essentially corresponded to that of the models 12/50 TH from 1927 and 12/50 SD from 1927 to 1929. This made it inexpensive to manufacture and the model again fitted into the 1.5-liter class that was popular at the time.
A roadster first appeared in 1932. In 1933 a four-door touring car, a sedan and a two-door convertible followed under the name Alvis Firefly 12 . The front and rear rigid axles were suspended from semi-elliptical leaf springs. The wheelbase , the type of suspension and some of the bodies corresponded to the previous six-cylinder model Silver Eagle SE and TB . The maximum speed was approx. 114 km / h depending on the structure.
In 1934 the Firebird model replaced both models of the Firefly. By then, the 904 Firefly Roadster and 871 Firefly 12 had been created.
