Amadeo Österreichische Schallplatten Ges.mbH was an Austrian record label founded in 1956 and based in Vienna . It was purchased by Polydor International in June 1974 . Stefan von Friedberg, at that time Amadeo's managing director, resigned and became managing director of Ariola Schallplatten . Gerhard Gebhardt, who was in charge of all Austrian labels in the Polydor Group at the time, became the new managing director. Franz Wallner, until then with Phonodisc, became sales and marketing manager.

Polydor is part of the Universal Music Group .
