The Amaißbichl , also Ameisbühel and similarly written, is an 1828  m above sea level. A. high summit of the Schneealpe on the border between Lower Austria and Styria .

geography

The summit lies between the Lower Austrian Schwarzatal near Naßwald and the Styrian Mürz Valley near Neuberg an der Mürz . It is located about 3½ kilometers northeast of the Windberg , the main summit of the Schneealpe. It is separated from the main massif by the saddle of the Lurgbauerhütte  ( 1764  m above sea level ), south of it the Schauerwand  ( 1812  m above sea level ) drops steeply. East to south runs over the Gamperl (Kamperl) the Naßkamm with its 1210  m above sea level. A. high pass to Gamseck  ( 1857  m above sea level ), the north-western foothills of the Rax Heukuppe . To the north a ridge sweeps over the Eisenkogel  ( 1513  m above sea level ) to the Kreuzsattel  ( 1363  m above sea level ), the pass to Sonnleitstein and Donnerkogel . The Gippel-Göller-Zug rises behind it .

To the north are the valleys of the Wasseralm spring , which runs from the Wasseralm to the Nassbach , a tributary of the uppermost Schwarza. The completely karst-dry high valley of the Kalten Mürz extends north-west . The uppermost valley of the Altenberger Bach , which is also dry, goes eastwards , which then goes around the Naßwand southwest via Altenberg an der Rax to the upper Mürz.

Paths and development

The Nordalpenweg (Weitwanderweg 01) passes southeast of the summit of the Alpe snow coming over the Lurgbauerhütte to Naßkamm and in the Rax. The hut is easy to reach from all sides, to the Amaißbichl itself only climbs lead from the paths that lead to the Kreuzsattel on both sides of the summit.

Directly below the summit, the Schneealpenstollen of the 1st Viennese high spring pipeline east-north-east-west-south-west , cut in 1965-68, crosses the Schneealpen massif, exactly 1000 meters deep ( 797  m above sea level ).
