Amalie Pasqualati
Amalia Freifrau von Pasqualati von Osterberg (born May 19, 1818 as Amalia von Vog (e) l in Vienna , Austrian Empire , † March 18, 1903 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary ) was an Austrian actress , dancer and theater director .
life and career
Amalia von Vog (e) l was born in Vienna on May 19, 1818 and came to the stage as a dancer and actress at the age of 15, where she mostly performed under the pseudonym Amalia Zwerbi or AZ. After the then 21-year-old married the military officer Johann Baptist Freiherr von Pasqualati and Osterberg (1811–1876), the son of the military officer of the same name (1777–1830), on November 3, 1839, she judged with the support of her husband in 1841 In the large central hall of the Schönborn Palace in today's Laudongasse in the 8th district of Josefstadt in Vienna, there is a 100-seat amateur theater with an attached theater school. The theater, which was subsequently very popular, mainly brought plays by German and French authors, such as Friedrich Schiller , Gotthold Ephraim Lessing , Ferdinand Raimund , Johann Nestroy , August von Kotzebue , Mélesville , Eugène Scribe and Jean-François Bayard . Operettas or smaller operas were also performed here less often, with the now Amalia Baroness von Pasqualati von Osterberg mostly miming the female lead herself. The other contributors included, above all, bourgeois amateur actors and aristocrats, but also professional actors. So came here, among other things Ludwig Gabillon still young, Franz von Jauner or the couple Fichtner ( Karl and Elise Fichtner ) on. Hofburg actors also appeared regularly at the many charity events that take place here. In 1862 the theater was closed for financial reasons. After Amalia Baroness von Pasqualati von Osterberg had already received the concession to run a public stage in 1860, she only took over the management of the Harmonietheater in Vienna's 9th district of Alsergrund in autumn 1866 . There she engaged, among others, Carl Millöcker and Karl Ferdinand as Kapellmeister and composer . Ludwig Anzengruber appeared here in smaller roles and his first dramatic attempts, such as the farce Der Reformtürk , were performed here. Already in May 1867 she had to resign the direction of the theater after likewise financial difficulties; the last performance took place on May 9, 1867.
