Amanda Forsyth

Amanda Forsyth (born October 12, 1966 ) is a Canadian cellist .

The daughter of the composer Malcolm Forsyth had cello lessons in Edmonton from the age of three . From 1977 she was a student of William Pleeth in England for a year and a half . At the Juilliard School she studied with Harvey Shapiro until she graduated in 1989 . She has appeared as a soloist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra , the Edmonton Youth Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and as a chamber musician with Lynn Harrell , Miriam Fried and Stephen Hough at the Hollywood Bowl .

From 1990–91 she was a cellist in the Toronto Symphony Orchestra , she also appeared with the Chinook Troi in Toronto and on two tours of Japan and with the Trio Vivant . Other chamber music partners included a. Yo-Yo Ma , Garrick Ohlsson , Jon Kimura Parker , Yefim Bronfman , Joseph Kalichstein , Jaime Laredo , Arnold Steinhardt , Michael Tree and Louis Lortie . Since 2003 she has been a member of the Zukerman Chamber Players of her husband Pinchas Zukerman .
