biography

family

Amanda Sandrelli is the daughter of Italian singer Gino Paoli and actress Stefania Sandrelli . She grew up in a large family, which also included her half-brother Vito (* 1973), who came from a later relationship between her mother and the Italian entrepreneur Nicky Pende. She met her husband, who has Peruvian roots, during her participation in the play Né in cielo né in terra . He was a fellow actor who also impersonated her partner in this performance. In July 1994 she married Blas Roca Rey in Peru , with whom she has two sons, Rocco (* 1998) and Francisco (* 2004).

Career

Amanda Sandrelli's career began by accident. Her mother had invited her friends Robert Benigni and Massimo Troisi , both directors, to her home for dinner. The result was that they wanted Amanda for their next film, The Lucky Boys . She played the character Pia in it and the film achieved cult status in Italy in 1985. In her next engagement Incest, also in 1985, she embodied Monica and played at the side of her mother. In the following years Amanda Sandrelli worked with various directors such as Giuseppe Bertolucci in Strange, Life ... (1987) and Armori in corso (1989), Bruno Bozzetto in Sotto il ristorante cinese (1987) and also Ugo Tognazzi in Bandelli's Alibi (1988). She also acted alongside well-known actors such as Max von Sydow in Una vita scellerata (1990) and Christopher Lambert in Nirvana (1997).

A rare occurrence was a duet with her father. In 1991 they both sang the official Italian version of the soundtrack for the Walt Disney film Beauty and the Beast . In the 1990s, Amanda Sandrelli commuted between film and theater productions. Her best-known theater performances are Né in cielo né in terra (1992), Bruciati (1993), La chunga (1994) and Tre sorelle (1995). On television, for example, she was seen in the films Oscar per due (1998) and Le Madri (1999) and in the television series Il ricatto 2 (1991), Il sassofono (1991) and Il giudice Mastrangelo (2005-2007). In 2007 she was back in front of the camera with her mother Stefania in the television series Io e mamma after 23 years. In 2009 she took on the role of Cristina in the film Christine Cristina, a biography about the poet Cristina da Pizzano and her mother's directorial debut. Amanda Sandrelli is considered an exceptionally flexible actress with a wide range.

As a director, she filmed the short film Un amore possibile in 2004 , in which her husband starred and which was nominated in the category Best Short Film for the David di Donatello , the most important Italian film award, in the same year . The documentary Piedi x terra followed in 2007 .
