Amandus Petrussen

Josias Kornelius Amandus Sem Petrussen (born July 29, 1927 in Narsarmijit ; † August 19, 1993 ) was a Greenlandic politician ( Atassut ), catechist , pastor , judge , writer and poet .

Life

Amandus Petrussen is the son of the hunter Boas Petrussen (1896–1963) and his wife Gertraut Pauline Mathæussen (1899–1971). On July 14, 1953, he married the nurse Frederikke Naemi Florendine Davidsen (1931–?), Daughter of the hunter Immanuel Johannes Davidsen (1891–?) And his wife Marie Susanne Filipine Joelsen (1905–?).

He initially attended school in Narsarmijit. From 1941 to 1942 he attended school in Nanortalik and then went to the Efterskole in Qaqortoq . From 1946 to 1948 he studied in Nuuk , where he graduated from Grønland's seminarium in 1950 .

In the same year he was employed as a catechist in Narsaq . From 1951 to 1953 he worked in Qaqortoq. Then he moved to East Greenland, where he was a catechist in Itterajivit until 1956 . From 1956 to 1957 he worked in Denmark and then returned to Greenland, where he worked in Alluitsoq until 1959 and then worked for one year each in Qeqertarsuatsiaat and Aappilattoq . He then spent another year in Denmark and then again in Narsaq from 1962 to 1963. From 1963 to 1966 he worked in his hometown of Narsarmijit and then again in Narsaq. In 1971 he was ordained. From then on he served as a pastor in Alluitsup Paa , Qaqortoq and Nanortalik.

From 1955 to 1956 he was a member of the Hunters Council in Ittoqqortoormiit. From 1967 to 1971 he was a member of the Narsaq Municipality Council . In 1970 he was appointed district judge of Narsaq. From 1983 to 1984 he was a member of the Inatsisartut for one legislative period . In 1953 he was a co-founder of the White Cross in Greenland.

In the 1980s he was a member of various church committees. Amandus Petrussen was also active as a writer and poet. He won poetry competitions in 1959, 1977 and 1979. He died in 1993 shortly before his 66th birthday.
