Ambroz Haračić
Ambroz Haračić , also Ambrosio , (born December 5, 1855 in Mali Lošinj (now Croatia ), † October 1, 1916 there ) was a coastal , Austro-Hungarian botanist . His botanical author abbreviation is " Haračić ".
Life
After studying mathematics and natural sciences in Vienna , he taught at the seafaring school in Mali Lošinj , where he founded a meteorological station in 1879 . In Mali Lošinj and the neighboring smaller islands ( Ilovik , Susak , Unije , Male Srakane , Vele Srakane , Murter and Oruda ) he carried out measurements and studies of the vegetation and reforestation of forests. As a result, Mali Lošinj was declared a climatic health resort in 1892 , and tourism developed into an important economic factor in this region.
