American Canyon is an American city in California in Napa County . The city is located about 35 km north of San Francisco and in 2018 (estimate) had about 20,400 inhabitants on an area of 10.7 km².

American Canyon was founded in 1992.
geography
The city is located at the geographical coordinates of 38.18 ° North, 122.26 ° West and is bordered to the west by the Napa River , to the east by Sulfur Springs Mountain , to the south by Vallejo and to the Napa County Airport to the north. California State Route 29 runs through the village in a north-south direction .
Demographics
According to the 2010 census, the 19,454 inhabitants were distributed over 5,657 households. The population density was 1818.1 inh / km². 38.9% described themselves as white , 7.9% as African-American , 0.7% as Indian , 32.9% as Asian Americans , 12.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 6.6% to several ethnic groups on. 25.7% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 24.4% of all households lived in 49.6% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 81.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.43 people and the average family size was 3.78 people.
31.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 24.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 29.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 14.3% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 35.5 years. 49% of the population were male and 51% were female.
The median income per household was 2,017 at 91,705 US dollars . 8.3% of the population are below the poverty line.
