The Amezule at Eulmont

The Amezule is an east and right tributary of the Meurthe in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, almost 20 kilometers long . It generally drains west.

The source of the Amezule at Erbéviller-sur-Amezule .

The Amezule rises at an altitude of about 261  m in a meadow southeast of the community association Seille Grand Couronne et belonging municipality Erbéviller-sur-Amezule .

The stream initially flows in a northerly direction and partly piped underground through permanent meadows along the eastern edge of the village. It now leaves Erbéviller-sur-Amezule, then runs along a road for about half a kilometer in a north-northwest direction through barley fields and permanent meadows and then bends sharply to the southwest.

At Lay-Saint-Christophe the brook finally flows from the right and east at a height of about 190  m into the Meurthe, which is approaching from the south .

The 19.4 km long run ends about 71 meters below the source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 3.7 ‰.

Catchment area

The 86.3 km catchment area of ​​the Amezule is drained through it via the Meurthe, the Moselle and the Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

  • in the northeast to the catchment area of ​​the Seille , which flows into the Moselle,
  • in the east to that of the Seille tributary Loutre Noire ,
  • in the southeast and south to that of the Roanne , which flows into the Meurthe,
