The Amezule rises at an altitude of about 261 m in a meadow southeast of the community association Seille Grand Couronne et belonging municipality Erbéviller-sur-Amezule .
The stream initially flows in a northerly direction and partly piped underground through permanent meadows along the eastern edge of the village. It now leaves Erbéviller-sur-Amezule, then runs along a road for about half a kilometer in a north-northwest direction through barley fields and permanent meadows and then bends sharply to the southwest.
At Lay-Saint-Christophe the brook finally flows from the right and east at a height of about 190 m into the Meurthe, which is approaching from the south .
The 19.4 km long run ends about 71 meters below the source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 3.7 ‰.
Catchment area
The 86.3 km catchment area of the Amezule is drained through it via the Meurthe, the Moselle and the Rhine to the North Sea.

- in the east to that of the Seille tributary Loutre Noire ,
- in the southeast and south to that of the Roanne , which flows into the Meurthe,
- in the southwest to that of the Meurthe tributary Ruisseau de Grémillon,
