Amitriptyline oxide (amitriptyline N -oxide ) is a drug from the group of tricyclic antidepressants , which is used to relieve depression and anxiety and to treat sleep disorders .

toxicology

In a study in 1998 with various mammals such as dogs, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits and rats, amitriptyline oxide showed moderate to low toxicity with oral LD 50 values ​​between 330 mg kg −1 and 1,800 mg kg −1 . After intravenous administration, values ​​between 25 mg kg −1 and 87 mg kg −1 were determined. All animals showed drowsiness and generally subdued activity.
