Amitriptyline oxide (amitriptyline N -oxide ) is a drug from the group of tricyclic antidepressants , which is used to relieve depression and anxiety and to treat sleep disorders .
toxicology
In a study in 1998 with various mammals such as dogs, guinea pigs, mice, rabbits and rats, amitriptyline oxide showed moderate to low toxicity with oral LD 50 values between 330 mg kg −1 and 1,800 mg kg −1 . After intravenous administration, values between 25 mg kg −1 and 87 mg kg −1 were determined. All animals showed drowsiness and generally subdued activity.
Amitriptyline oxide works similarly to amitriptyline .
