Amphoe Khlong Hat ( Thai : อำเภอ คลอง หาด ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Sa Kaeo . The province of Sa Kaeo is located in the eastern region of Thailand , but is administratively counted to central Thailand .

Amphoe Khlong Hat is bounded by the following amphoe (clockwise from the south): Soi Dao district in Chanthaburi province and Wang Sombun , Wang Nam Yen , Watthana Nakhon and Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo province. To the east lies the Battambang Province of Cambodia .

history

The area of ​​today's Khlong Hat used to be a forest area with many mahat trees (Thai: มะหาด , also: "lakuch trees" - Artocarpus lakoocha ), which stood on the banks of the canals ( khlongs ). When settlers settled here, they named their village Ban Khlong Mahat. The name was later shortened to Ban Khlong Hat. In 1984, refugees from the civil war in Cambodia came to settle in Khlong Hat. On January 15, 1985, the Thai government separated the four Tambon Khlong Hat, Thai Udom, Sap Makrut and Sai Diao from Watthana Nakhon district in order to establish a “branch circle” ( King Amphoe ) . The "Branch Circle" was promoted to Amphoe Khlong Hat on May 21, 1990.
