Amphoe Wang Nam Yen ( Thai : อำเภอ วังน้ำเย็น ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the south of Sa Kaeo Province . The province of Sa Kaeo is located in the eastern region of Thailand on the border with Cambodia , but is administratively counted to central Thailand .

Amphoe Wang Nam Yen is bounded by the following Amphoe (clockwise from the north): Amphoe Khao Chakan , Watthana Nakhon , Khlong Hat and Wang Sombun in Sa Kaeo Province and Amphoe Tha Takiap in Chachoengsao Province .

history

When the government completed “National Road 317” between the cities of Chanthaburi and Sa Kaeo in 1971 , the residents of the villages of Ban Tha Ta Si and Ban Nong Prue settled on the new road. They named their new village Ban Wang Nam Yen. In 1975 the area was upgraded to the Tambon Wang Nam Yen of Amphoe Mueang Sa Kaeo . On December 1, 1976, the "Branch Circle" ( King Amphoe ) Wang Nam Yen was established, which at the time consisted of the three tambon Wang Nam Yen, Wang Sombun and Ta Lang Nai. On April 1, 1983, Wang Nam Yen was granted full Amphoe status.

politics

Amphoe Wang Nam Yen is the home district of Sanoh Thienthong , a politician who has been active at the national level since the 1970s. He leads a group of MPs from the north-east region in Parliament, who change parties from election to election, depending on who promises them the most advantages. Until 1996 this was the Chart Thai Party , then the New Hope Party , after 2000 the Thai Rak Thai Party , 2006 the Pracharaj Party and since 2011 the Pheu Thai Party . It is called the "Wang Nam Yen Group" after Sanoh's place of residence. In the 1990s, Sanoh and the Wang Nam Yen Group were considered the kingmakers of Thai politics.

  • Khlong Hin Pun (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล คลอง หินปูน ) consisting of the complete tambon Khlong Hin Pun.
  • Thung Maha Charoen (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ทุ่ง มหา เจริญ ) consisting of the complete tambon Thung Maha Charoen.
