Shixia culture
The Shixia culture ( Chinese 石峡 文化 , Pinyin Shíxiá Wénhuà , English Shixia Culture ) was a Neolithic culture in the Lingnan region in China. It takes its name from the earliest excavated Shixia site in the Qujiang district of Shaoguan in Guangdong Province . It was mainly found in the catchment area of the Bei Jiang北江 and Dong Jiang东江 rivers. Agriculture was the focus of economic life, the remains of two wet rice fields were discovered (Xian 籼 rice), and Jing 粳 rice was also found. According to the C-14 dating method, the Shixia culture dates from approximately 2900 to 2700 BC. Dated.
The Shixia site (Shixia yizhi 石峡 遗址) in Shaoguan has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (5-95) since 2001 .
