Xinglongwa
Xinglongwa ( Chinese 兴隆 洼 遗址 , Pinyin Xīnglóngwā yízhǐ ) is a Neolithic site between Inner Mongolia and Liaoning named after the village of Xinglongwa (兴隆 洼村) . It was excavated in 1983. The Xinglongwa culture ( 兴隆 洼 文化 , Xīnglóngwā wénhuà ) is named after her. It is the earliest Neolithic culture in Manchuria . The find provided important materials on the forms of settlement of the Neolithic in northern China.
The culture is dated to 6200-5400 BC. And was mainly in the catchment area of the rivers Xiliao He (西 辽河) and Daling He (大 凌河) and at the southern foot of the Yan Shan (燕山). Some of the oldest ceramics were found in the Xinglongwa sites.
The bones and DNA reconstructions found show strong Mongolian (East Asian) features and are very likely ancestors of the Tungus , Turkic and Mongolian peoples .
The Xinglongwa site has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-6) since 1996 .
