Caiyuan site
Coordinates: 36 ° 32 '0 " N , 105 ° 33' 0" O The Caiyuan-site ( Chinese 菜园遗址 , Pinyin Caiyuan yízhǐ , English Caiyuan Site ) is a named after the village Caiyuan (菜园村) archaeological site from the late Neolithic in the large village Xi'an circle Haiyuan the prefecture-level city Zhongwei autonomous region of Ningxia in the people's Republic of China . It is located at an altitude of 1,800 m above sea level.
It is the eponymous site of the Neolithic Caiyuan culture ( 菜园 文化 , Càiyuán wénhuà , English Caiyuan Culture ). The culture of this site is dated from 4,800-3,900 before today.
From the graves of one hundred and twenty sites, a large amount of production tools, household utensils, and jewelry have been excavated: pottery, stone utensils, and bone artifacts, almost 5,000 in total.
The Caiyuan site ( Caiyuan yizhi ) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-214) since 2006 .
A museum has been established at the site, the Caiyuan Culture Museum ( Caiyuan wenhua bowuguan ).
