Shangzhai culture
The Shangzhai culture ( Chinese 上 宅 文化 , Pinyin Shangzhai wenhua ) is a Neolithic culture discovered in the early 1980s and found in the Pinggu district (the former district) in the east of the Chinese capital Beijing at the reservoir of Jinhai Lake ( 金海湖 ) has been discovered. The eponymous site is located about 18 km east of Pinggu. The findings are in the Shangzhai Culture Exhibit Hall ( Shangzhai wenhua chenlieguan ) in the tourist area of Pinggu in the community Hanzhuang ( 韩庄乡 ).
The site of the Shangzhai culture has been on the Chinese national monument list since 2019 .
