The office Herzberg (Harz) was a historical administrative area of ​​the principality of Grubenhagen , later of the Kingdom of Hanover and the Prussian province of Hanover .

history

Herzberg Castle was acquired by Heinrich the Lion in 1157, at the end of the 14th century it temporarily served as the residence of the Princes of Grubenhagen and developed into the center of a Grubenhagen office , which, in addition to the core area around Herzberg, temporarily also included Dorste , Schwiegershausen and Wulften . Dorste and Wulften came to the Katlenburg office in 1800 , Schwiegershausen to the Osterode office . In 1859 the administrative district was expanded to include the dissolved office of Scharzfels . In 1885 it was repealed and transferred to the Osterode district .
