The District Court of Mellrichstadt was a Bavarian court of ordinary jurisdiction that existed from 1879 to 1973 and was based in Mellrichstadt in Lower Franconia . The subsequent branch of the local court in Bad Neustadt was closed in 2013.

history

Already in the 13th century Mellrichstadt was owned and also the official and court seat of the Hochstift Würzburg and remained so until the secularization in 1803 in favor of Bavaria. In 1804 during the administrative reorganization of Bavaria , the district court Mellrichstadt built. From 1806 to 1814 it was then a regional court in the Grand Duchy of Würzburg . With the entry into force of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, a district court was established in Mellrichstadt, the district of which was composed of the municipalities of the previous district of Mellrichstadt . The higher-level instances were the Schweinfurt Regional Court and the Bamberg Higher Regional Court .

With effect from July 1, 1973, the Mellrichstadt District Court was repealed, but the District Court remained in existence until 2013 as a branch of the Bad Neustadt District Court . At the end of January 2013, the last negotiations took place in Mellrichstadt.

Courthouse

The former district court (Amtsschloss) is a listed, three-storey two-wing building on a hooked floor plan, east wing with a gable roof, Krangaube and stepped gable, embossed corner blocks, partly pointed arch and cross-frame windows and walled-in heraldic stones from 1512; West wing with hipped roof from 1712.
