The Viechtach district court is one of 73 district courts in Bavaria and a court of ordinary jurisdiction . The head office is located at Mönchshofstrasse 29 in Viechtach .

history

Viechtach was the seat of the court as early as the 13th century and since 1803 the seat of a regional court (older order) . The Viechtach District Court was formed in 1879 by the Courts Constitution Act. The main building of the district court was completed in 1960. In the course of the closure of the Regen District Court , it was integrated into the Viechtach District Court on July 1, 1973. The first expansion of the building took place in the years 1982 to 1984. When the centralization of the coercive detention procedures fell on Viechtach, the building was expanded again due to lack of space. The extension was inaugurated in March 2006.

Area of ​​jurisdiction and higher courts

The district court is responsible for the Regen district. Since March 1, 2003, it has also been responsible for ordering compulsory detention for all of Bavaria. The Deggendorf Public Prosecutor's Office is responsible for the district of the Viechtach District Court. The higher-level courts are the Deggendorf Regional Court and the Munich Higher Regional Court .
