Ana Isabel Alonso

Ana Isabel Alonso ( Ana Isabel Alonso Nieto ; born August 16, 1963 in Villaherreros , Palencia province ) is a former Spanish long-distance runner .

Life

She won national titles seven times in cross-country running (1984, 1985, 1987–1990, 1999), twice over 3000 m (1983 and 1987), once over 5000 m (1984), four times over 10,000 m (1985, 1988, 1991 and 1994) , once in the half marathon (1999) and twice in the marathon (1992 and 1994).

At the World Athletics Championships in Rome in 1987 , she came in 19th place over 10,000 m. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, she was eliminated over the same distance in the preliminary run.

In the 1990s she increasingly turned to road running . She won the San Sebastian Marathon three times : in 1992, 1994 and finally in 1995 with the current national record of 2:26:51 h. At the marathon of the world championships in 1993 in Stuttgart she finished 17th, at the half marathon world championships in 1995 she was seventh, and at the marathon of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta she came in 49th.

In 1997 and 1998 she won the Barcelona Marathon , 1999, she finished third in the Rotterdam Marathon and 15th marathon of the 1999 World Championships in Seville, and in the last year of her career, she won the Rotterdam Marathon and came at the 2000 Olympic Games on 30th place.
