Ancy-sur-Moselle is a commune déléguée in the French commune of Ancy-Dornot with 1,388 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ).
geography
Ancy-sur-Moselle is located on the left bank of the Moselle between Metz and Pont-à-Mousson . The area is part of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park .
history
The place was first mentioned in 876 as Anceiacum , but is much older.
From 1871 to 1883 the place was called Ancen on the Mosel , then Ancy on the Mosel . 1915-18 and 1940-44 the name was translated into Anzig . During the liberation in September 1944, the place was badly destroyed.
With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Ancy-sur-Moselle and Dornot were merged into a Commune nouvelle with the name Ancy-Dornot. The municipality of Ancy-sur-Moselle belonged to the arrondissement of Metz and the canton of Les Coteaux de Moselle .
