The Andfjord is a strait about 60 km long and up to 30 km wide , a sound , in Northern Norway , on the border between the two provinces of Nordland and Troms og Finnmark . At its deepest point it is 517 m deep.

It begins in the north on the European Arctic Ocean and runs in a generally southerly direction between the two large islands of Senja in the east and Andøya in the west. The smaller islands Krøttøya , Bjarkøya and Grytøya are located in the south on the east side of the Andfjord. There is a large coral reef in the Steinavær archipelago to the north of the Andfjord .

In the south of Andfjorden between chin and Eigsnes where the Toppsund southeast branches going into the Godfjord and Kvæfjord, from the turn of the 35 km into the big island Hinnøya in reaching Gullesfjord runs out. In the southeast the Vågsfjord joins, which begins between Bjarkøya in the west and the Eidepollen and the Senja peninsula Stongland in the east. To the north and south of Grytøya, the Kvernsund and the Toppsund connect the Andfjord with the Vagsfjord. In the south-west, at the Andøybrua (Andøy Bridge) between Dragnes on Hinnøya and Risøyhamn in the south of Andøya, the Risøysund begins, through which the Hurtigruten ships travel north from southern Vesterålen .

In the summer months from late May to the end of August there is a car ferry across the Andfjord at its entrance from the North Sea between Andenes at the northern end of Andøya and Gryllefjord ( Senja municipality ) in the north-west of Senja. The ferry runs three times a day and the 37 kilometer journey takes 1 hour and 40 minutes.
