André E. Bucher (born March 7, 1924 in Inhambane , Mozambique , † June 6, 2009 in Geneva ) was a Swiss artist and sculptor .

Life

As a child, Bucher was influenced by artists such as Marino Marini , whom he also met personally in Ascona . He studied art and sculpture in Zurich , Paris , London , Berlin and Rome , among others . From 1967 he was only active as a sculptor.

From 1976 Bucher created works of art that contained liquid lava . For this purpose he climbed volcanoes himself in order to be able to process the works he had prepared with lava on site.

His sculpture "Justice", which stands before the German Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe, is also known. A picture of this sculpture was printed in 2001 on a commemorative stamp “50 Years of the Federal Constitutional Court”.
