André Gatzke (born September 8, 1975 in Hemer ) is a German television presenter at KiKA .

Life

André Gatzke grew up in Hemer, Westphalia . He began his professional career with an apprenticeship as a hotel manager in the Dortmund Hotel Lennhof, the former team hotel of Borussia Dortmund . However, his community service at a school for handicapped children was trend-setting for his later career . André Gatzke decided against the originally planned course in business tourism. He wanted to continue working directly with children. After training as an occupational therapist at the Timmermeister School in Münster , he ran an occupational therapy practice in Cologne for several years . He gives lectures in his field and is also in demand as an expert for TV magazines such as Planet Wissen (e.g. on the subject of workplace ergonomics, back training, children in exercise and nutrition).

André Gatzke has been on television regularly since 2006. As a reporter for the animal magazine Tier hoch vier ( WDR / Das Erste ) moderated by Anja Backhaus , he fought with small, white tigers, brought triplets into the world and took part in an ostrich race. André Gatzke and Tanja Mairhofer have been presenting Die Sendung mit dem Elefanten (WDR / KiKA), which is primarily aimed at preschoolers, since 2007 . He is also a regular screenwriter for Die Sendung mit dem Elefanten . André Gatzke has also been working as a reporter for Die Sendung mit der Maus since 2011 , for example in the “Open doors for the mouse” campaign.

In addition to his work for television, André Gatzke regularly acts as a moderator at large children's and family events as well as at conferences, trade fairs ( didacta , Frankfurt Book Fair ) and award ceremonies (Auditorix, Grimme Online Award, etc.). On large stages, for example, he led through the program at the “Day of Little Researchers” in Sauerlandpark Hemer or the children's music festival “c / o pänz” in Cologne. Together with Anke Engelke , his colleague on the show with the elephant , he moderates children's concerts by the WDR Funkhausorchester Cologne . André Gatzke is committed to several organizations. In 2012 he was a prominent sponsor of the EU media literacy initiative "klicksafe" for security on the Internet.

André Gatzke also makes a name for himself as a singer. Together with Erdmöbel musician Ekki Maas , he produced the “c / o-pänz” anthem “Pänz im Park”. In the radio play "Pit der Flea" he lent the narrator his voice and explains to children how a piano works, for example.
