Status: end of career

André Kilian (born May 18, 1987 in Herne ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach . He is currently working as Christian Titz's assistant trainer at Rot-Weiss Essen .

Career as a player

Kilian joined the youth department of FC Schalke 04 in 2002 with his twin brother Tim via the stations SC Pantringshof , Westfalia Herne and Blau-Gelb Schwerin ( Castrop-Rauxel ) . In 2005 he won the DFB Junior Club Cup with the Revierklub around the actors Manuel Neuer and Alexander Baumjohann , and in 2006 he won the A Junior Championship alongside players such as Mesut Özil , Sebastian Boenisch and Benedikt Höwedes . Then Kilian moved into the second team of Schalke and rose with the team in 2008 as part of the restructuring of the league system as a runner-up from the Oberliga Westfalen in the Regionalliga West . In the regional league, too, the “technically well-trained left foot” was used regularly as a left full-back or in the defensive midfield. Already at the beginning of the 2009/10 season the coach called him a "wobbly candidate", he lost - also handicapped by an injury - after the winter break his place in the team to the newly signed Robert Stark.

Two years after his brother returned to Westfalia Herne, André Kilian also left Schalke when his contract expired in the summer of 2010. He decided to move to the Australian A-League to North Queensland Fury , where a new team had to be put together after financial problems. Mainly responsible for the transfer was their new sporting director Robbie Middleby , who still had contacts in the Ruhr area from his time at KFC Uerdingen 05 . After he missed the start of the season due to injury, he made his debut in the Australian professional league on matchday 8 and was subsequently part of the regular team. The team finished last at the end of the season, the performance had fallen from December after serious doubts about the continued existence of the club after the end of the season arose. On March 1, 2011, the Australian association North Queensland Fury revoked the license and Kilian's contract became invalid.

Kilian returned to Germany after this season and completed individual training with DFB soccer teacher Christian Titz at the Dooley Soccer University in Aachen-Eilendorf in spring 2011 . When Titz became coach of the south-west upper division FC 08 Homburg in the summer of 2011 , Kilian followed suit. Kilian established himself in sixth position at FC Homburg and scored six goals in 27 league games in his first season. At the end of the season Homburg rose as the superior champion of the Oberliga Südwest in the Regionalliga Südwest ; Kilian had previously signed a contract with the Saarklub until 2014.

Career as a coach

After Kilian had played for FC Homburg for six years , he was promoted to assistant coach of the first team in the summer of 2017. Kilian received a contract dated until summer 2019 as an assistant coach with the Homburg team.

For the 2018/19 season , Kilian became Christian Titz's assistant coach at the Bundesliga relegated Hamburger SV . In February 2019, Kilian's contract with the Hanseatic League, analogous to that of the new head coach Hannes Wolf since October 2018 , was extended to June 2020. After the missed promotion, Dieter Hecking was hired as the new head coach during the summer break .

For the 2019/20 season, Kilian switched to the regional division Rot-Weiss Essen as assistant coach after Christian Titz was signed as the new head coach.
