André Marie Jacques Louis Ferdinand Storelli (born January 21, 1911 in Cour-Cheverny , Département Loir-et-Cher , † April 19, 2007 ) was a French admiral (Amiral) of the Navy , who last between 1970 and 1972 was chief of the General Staff of the Navy (Chef d'état-major de la Marine) was.

Life

After attending school in 1930, Storelli began his officer training at the Naval School (École Navale) , which he completed from 1932 to 1933 on the training ship Jeanne d'Arc . In August 1943 he switched to the naval intelligence service before he became commander of the escort ship Saber at the end of the war in April 1945 .

In December 1946 Storelli was promoted to Korvettenkapitän (Capitaine de Corvette) and did land service in the military port of Toulon , the headquarters of the Mediterranean Fleet. After his promotion to frigate captain (Capitaine de Frégate) in August 1951, he was, among other things, in command of the Aviso La Grandière and, after being promoted to sea captain (Capitaine de Vaisseau) in 1957, between 1961 and 1963, commander of the training ship Jeanne d'Arc .

In 1964 Storelli was promoted to Flotilla Admiral (Contre-amiral) and initially acted as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Navy and then as commander of the naval aviation associations in the Pacific on the aircraft carrier Foch , before becoming commander of the submarine associations in 1967. After his promotion to Rear Admiral (Vice-amiral) in 1968, he succeeded Vice-Admiral Yves de Bazelaire as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Navy (Major général de la Marine) and as such became Vice-Admiral (Vice-amiral d'escadre) in March 1970 promoted.

On May 1, 1970, Storelli took over the post of Chief of the General Staff of the Navy (Chef d'état-major de la Marine) as the successor to Admiral André Patou and held this position until his retirement from active service on February 1, 1972, whereupon Admiral Marc de Joybert succeeded him. In July 1970 he was also promoted to Admiral (Amiral) . Among other things, he was a Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor .

From the marriage with Bernadette d'Irumberry de Salaberry, a daughter of Bernard Comte d'Irumberry de Salaberry, three children were born.
