Andre Clinton "Ajay" Calvin (born May 4, 1985 in Detroit ) is an American basketball player who has been under contract with ETB Essen since 2018 .
career
Calvin played basketball as a teenager at River Rouge High School in his native Detroit. From 2003 to 2005 he was a playing member of the basketball selection at Butler Community College (State of Kansas ), at the end of his college days he played and studied from 2005 to 2007 at Drake University in the city of Des Moines in the state of Iowa .
Calvin embarked on a career as a professional basketball player, which led him to the Austrian Bundesliga in the 2007/08 season , where he donned the shirt of the Burgenland club UBC Güssing . After a stop in Portugal and a break from competition, Calvin landed at the German second division club Ehingen / Urspring in 2011 . There he drew attention to himself with strong performances, especially in his second year (2012/13) and was signed by Ehingen's league rival BG Karlsruhe in the run-up to the 2013/14 season . In the 2014/15 round, Calvin played again in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA and posted very good statistical values with averages of 12.5 points and 9.8 rebounds per match. The reward followed in the form of a contract offer from the Crailsheim Merlins , who had just been promoted to the basketball league . In Germany's highest league, Calvin made 27 appearances with an average of 8.0 points and 3.4 rebounds during the 2015/16 season. He was relegated from the Bundesliga with Crailsheim.
In the 2016/17 season he strengthened the Nürnberg Falcons BC in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA, in the summer break of 2017 he was signed by the Quakenbrück club Artland Dragons , so he moved to the third-class 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In summer 2018 he moved on to ETB Essen within the 2nd Bundesliga ProB . In the points round of the 2018/19 season, he achieved 16.1 points per match, the team's highest value in this statistical category.
