Andreas Eiynck (* 1961 in Coesfeld ) is a German ethnologist , regional historian and non-fiction author . He is a specialist in the history of rural construction in the Münsterland and Emsland . Since 1988 he has headed the Emsland Museum in Lingen (Ems) .

Life

After graduating from high school Nepomucenum in his home town of Coesfeld, Andreas Eiynck studied European ethnology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In the Westmünsterland he became famous in the mid-1980s through various folklore and house studies, especially in rural building. In 1987 he wrote the volume on building and living in the old half-timbered houses in the countryside for the series Back then with us in Westphalia .

After working at the University of Münster, he took over the management and redesign of the Emsland Museum in Lingen in 1988 . He has also curated a number of exhibitions for the museum since then. In 1991 he completed his doctorate at the University of Münster with the dissertation Houses, Speicher , Gaden . Urban construction methods and forms of living in Steinfurt and in the north-western Münsterland before 1650 .

In addition to numerous contributions to scientific specialist publications, Andreas Eiynck has become known to a wider audience, not least through several books and illustrated books on the history of the Emsland and Lingen. He worked several times with the Lingen photographer Richard Heskamp. In 2011 he published the illustrated book Bauernhöfe in Nordwestdeutschland , which he had compiled with Niklas Hertwig . A cultural and historical farm tour through the Weser-Ems region.

Andreas Eiynck is a member of various scientific committees in the field of history and regional studies , for example as head of the museums and exhibitions of the Emsland landscape and as a member of their advisory board for the districts of Emsland and Grafschaft Bentheim. He is also active in the local history association in Lingen and in the working group for local history in the Lingener Land, collecting antiquities, especially historical photographs and other image sources. He regularly gives lectures on the topics of his scientific work.
