Andreas Daniel Habichhorst

Andreas Daniel Habichhorst (born March 14, 1634 in Bützow ; † August 30, 1704 in Rostock ) was a German Protestant theologian and university professor .

Life

Habichhorst came from the noble family von Havichorst , his father was a bailiff . His path to becoming a theologian was already mapped out when he was born. After studies that took him from Rostock through various universities to the University of Geneva and which he completed in Rostock with a master's degree in philosophy in 1658 , he received a call to the University of Rostock in 1663 and 1665 from Duke Christian Ludwig , both of whom were opposed to the faculty failed because this appointment was intended as a reward for the services of Habichhorst's father.

The appointment was made in 1669 under the dean Heinrich Müller . However, he still had to get the license to practice. He obtained this in 1671 at the University of Greifswald . From 1672 to 1686 he was Professor of Eloquence and History at the Philosophical Faculty of Rostock University. In 1675 he again missed a theological professorship. In 1679 he received his doctorate as Dr. theol. with the dissertation Disputationum Pentas ex Juris canonici monumentis .

Finally in 1686 Habichhorst became professor of theology and consistorial councilor at the University of Rostock. He held this position until his death. He was a member of the 1643 by Philip of Zesen founded German-minded cooperative in Hamburg under the name "The Blühsame". In this language club he discussed the Germanization of foreign words with his fellow guild members. As a “fellow ore shrine holder”, he felt obliged to defend the proposals of the head of his order.
