Andreas Hock

Andreas Hock (born October 29, 1974 in Nuremberg ) is a German journalist and author . From 2007 to 2012 he was editor-in-chief of the Nürnberger Abendzeitung and has since published several bestsellers.

Life

After graduating from high school, Hock studied law at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen and began writing for the Nürnberger Zeitung while studying . In 1999 he broke off his studies in order to do a traineeship at the Abendzeitung in Munich and Nuremberg. In 2001 he was employed as an editor at the Nuremberg AZ, where he was made deputy local manager in 2002. In the same year he moved to the Nuremberg CSU as a public relations officer and in 2004 went to the press department of the CSU state management in Munich. In 2007 he returned to Nuremberg AZ, where he became one of the youngest editors-in-chief in Germany.

He has been working as an author since AZ was discontinued in 2012. His first publication was the official biography of Robert and Carmen Geiss , which appeared in spring 2013 and reached number 2 on the Spiegel paperback bestseller list. A few more books followed, including the companion book to the TV series " The Big Bang Theory ". In the fall of 2014 he wrote the polemic “Am I the only one here who can speak German?”, Which dealt critically with the development of the German language. The book was placed on Spiegel's paperback bestseller list for over half a year .

Hock is also press spokesman for Comödie Fürth .

He lives with his family in Nuremberg.

controversy

When in 2011 a son of the Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann worked as a rapper a . a. Positively addressed drug abuse and an AZ editor wanted to publish an article about it, the publishing director prevented this, citing the close friendship of the Herrmann family with that of the new AZ owner Gunther Oschmann , although Hock fiercely resisted. The incident weighed on the relationship between the editorial team and the publishing house management until the Nuremberg AZ was discontinued the following year.
