Andreas Katz (* 1954 in Lübeck ) is a German politician from the Greens . From 2012 to 2016 he was one of the two chairmen of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association .

Andreas Katz joined the Greens in Munich in 1989. After moving to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 1991 , he became a member of the Schwerin district executive in 1992 and, from 1994, of the Parchim district executive . From 1992 to 1994 and again since 2006 he was a member of the state executive and from 1999 to 2000 the party council that advises the federal executive of the Greens. After Jürgen Suhr and Silke Gajek resigned their offices as state chairmen after moving into the Schwerin state parliament after the state elections in 2011 , he and Kerstin Felgner were elected as successors. From October 2012 to October 2016 he shared the state chairmanship with Claudia Müller .

Andreas Katz's focus is on educational and cultural policy as well as dealing with right-wing extremism.

Education, job and private life

Andreas Katz studied education and psychology and completed additional training in computer science and organization. He is or was active as a specialist advisor and project manager in the areas of adult education and as a consultant and project manager for software projects for public administration. He has lived in Crivitz (Parchim district) since 1991 . Katz is married to the district councilor Ulrike Seemann-Katz , who was the top candidate for Bündnis 90 / Grüne in the state elections in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2002 and 2006, and has three children.
