Claudia Müller (born August 10, 1981 in Rostock ) is a German politician from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and a member of the Bundestag. From October 2012 to February 2018 she was one of the two chairmen of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association .

Life

Claudia Müller graduated from high school at Goetheplatz in Rostock in 2002. In 1998/99 she spent a year as an exchange student in the USA. From 2002 to 2012 she studied Baltic Management Studies at the Stralsund University of Applied Sciences . She has worked as a freelance tour guide since 2000 and as a media educational project developer for the Identity Films media workshop since 2008. From October 2011 to August 2012 she was the managing director of the Stralsund citizenship group, Forum Kommunalpolitik, as a parental leave replacement . From February 2012 to May 2014 she was the parliamentary group manager of the Vorpommern-Rügen district parliamentary group.

Müller is married and has two children.

Since 2009, Müller has been active in local politics in Stralsund as a representative of the citizens' parliamentary group Forum on Local Politics in the Audit Committee (until May 2012). She has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2011. In the same year she was the top candidate in the Stralsund electoral areas for local elections and was a member of the district council of Western Pomerania-Rügen from September 2011 to May 2014 . There she is the deputy group leader and a full member of the budget and finance committee. She is still a member of the international working group and deputy chairwoman of the honorary commission of the district council. As a deputy member, she is also active in the district committee and the economic committee. In the local elections on May 25, 2014 , Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, with Müller as the top candidate, scored 5.6% and returned to the district council with parliamentary groups. As leader of the parliamentary group, Müller represents the parliamentary group in the district committee. She was also elected to the citizenship of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. After her election to the Bundestag, she resigned from the Stralsund citizenship in October 2017. Her successor is the nursing professor Petra Voss. In the district council she gave up the chairmanship of the parliamentary group. He is succeeded by the university lecturer Prof. Dr. Ludwig Wetenkamp.

At Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen she is active in the State Working Group on Peace, Europe and International Affairs (FREI) and in the Federal Working Group on Europe.

Claudia Müller was elected chairwoman of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on October 14, 2012. She received 57 out of 73 valid votes. Müller is the successor to Kerstin Felgner , who did not run again. Andreas Katz was re-elected as state chairman. Both form the quoted double top. At the state delegates' conference in Wismar on October 11, 2014, Müller was re-elected as chairperson. In 2016, she was re-elected at the state delegates' conference in Neubrandenburg on October 15. Müller prevailed against former member of the state parliament Ulrike Berger with 57 to 27 votes. Johann-Georg Jaeger became the new co-chairman. Andreas Katz did not run again.

At the state delegate conference in February 2018 in Güstrow , she gave up her position as state chairman because of her mandate in the Bundestag. The delegates elected Claudia Schulz as their successor .

For the 2013 federal election , Müller ran as a direct candidate for constituency 15 (Vorpommern-Rügen - Vorpommern-Greifswald I) and third on the state list of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In constituency 15, she gained 3.1% of the first votes .

On April 26, 2015, Müller was third behind the previous incumbent Alexander Badrow , who received 65.1% of the vote, and Kerstin in the mayor election in Stralsund with 7.7% of the vote and a turnout of 38.4% Kassner .

In the 2017 federal election she was number 1 on the state list and moved into the Bundestag as the only representative of the Greens Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, where she replaced Harald Terpe . She is the SME representative and spokeswoman for the maritime economy of the Bundestag parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen .

Müller is a member of the non-partisan European Union Germany , which advocates a federal Europe and the European unification process.
