Andreas Niklaus Koopmann (* June 1951 ) is a Swiss manager , Chairman of the Board of Directors of Georg Fischer AG and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss engineering company CSD Group .

education

Since 1976 Koopmann holds a diploma as a mechanical engineer of the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich in Switzerland . In 1978 he obtained an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development , a private business school in Lausanne , Switzerland.

Career

Until 1982 he held various positions at Bruno Piatti AG and Motor Columbus AG .

In 1982 Koopmann joined Bobst Group SA in Lausanne. Until 1989 he was Vice President for Technology and Production at the Bobst Group in Roseland ( USA ). Until 1991 he held management positions in the areas of technology and production. From 1991 to 1994 he was a member of the Group Executive Committee and Head of Production . He then served as Executive Vice President for two years . In 1995 he was appointed CEO of the group and held that position until 2009. From 1998 to 2002 he was also a member of the Board of Directors.

From 2003 to 2018 he was a member of the Nestlé Board of Directors , and from 2005 until his departure he was Vice Chairman. From 2009 to 2019 he was a member of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse Group AG and Credit Suisse AG. He was a member of the Risk Committee until 2018 and a member of the Compensation Committee since 2013. From 2015 to 2017 he was also a member of the Board of Directors of Credit Suisse (Schweiz) AG, a Swiss subsidiary of the bank.

As Chairman of the Board of Directors of Georg Fischer AG and as a member of the Compensation Committee at Nestlé and Credit Suisse, Koopmann has been criticized several times for approving exceptionally high compensation and unusually high sign-on payments for Ulf Schneider and Tidjane Thiam .

Other activities and functions

Koopmann is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonceboz SA , Member of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Board Institute , Member of the Management Board of Economiesuisse , Member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and Member of the Board of Trustees of the EPFL + Foundation . From February 2010 to March 2012 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alstom (Schweiz) AG .
