Andreas Ottomar Goelicke
Andreas Ottomar Goelicke (also Andreas Goelicke ; born February 2, 1671 in Nienburg (Saale) , † June 12, 1744 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German doctor and university professor .
Life
Goelicke first attended the school in his hometown and then the school of scholars in Dessau before moving to the Anhalt State University in Zerbst in 1688 , where he remained until 1692. He then became court master for the sons of Theodor Christoph Krug von Nidda , a personal physician of the Prussian king , for two years . Encouraged by Krug von Nida to study medicine, Goelicke moved to Frankfurt University on September 17, 1695 . In 1696 he went to the University of Halle , where Georg Ernst Stahl particularly influenced him. Goelicke was able to obtain his licentiate within a short timeand a year later the doctorate to Dr. med. to reach. His studies were followed by an extensive educational trip through the Netherlands , where he stayed longer in Amsterdam and Leiden .
Goelicke returned to Zerbst and settled there as a general practitioner . In addition, from 1701 he held medical lectures as a private lecturer at the Anhalt University of Zerbst. On April 11, 1709 he received a call as associate professor of medicine at the University of Halle. In 1713 he followed another call as a full professor of medicine at the University of Duisburg . Here too he only stayed briefly. In 1715 he accepted a position at the University of Frankfurt, where he was given the chair of practical medicine. In addition, he received the physics of the Lubusz district . He was rector of the University of Frankfurt in the summer semesters 1721, 1725 and 1729 as well as in the winter semesters 1733 and 1737 .
Goelicke published on many areas of medicine, especially anatomy and the history of medicine . As a student of Stahl, he turned against the iatromechanical school around Friedrich Hoffmann with his Institutiones medicinae secundum principia mechanico-organica reformatae from 1735 .
