Andreas Peter Cornelius Sol

Andreas Peter Cornelius Sol MSC (born October 19, 1915 in Amsterdam-Sloten , Netherlands ; † March 26, 2016 ) was a Dutch religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Amboina .

Life

Andreas Peter Cornelius Sol joined the order of the Sacred Heart Missionaries and was ordained a priest on August 10, 1940 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 10, 1963 titular bishop of Regiana and appointed him coadjutor bishop of Amboina. The Bishop of Amboina, Jacques Grent MSC, ordained him episcopal on February 25 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Adrianus Djajasepoetra SJ , Archbishop of Jakarta , and Nicolas Martinus Schneider's CICM , Archbishop of Makassar . With the retirement Jacques Grents on 15 January 1965, he followed them as Bishop of Amboina. His motto was: Ut omnes unum sint .

He attended the third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On June 10, 1994, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.

Bishop Sol still lived in Amboina after his retirement. Since 2013 he was the last living Dutch councilor of the Second Vatican Council (from then about 75).
