Andreas Pichler (director)

Andreas Pichler (born August 10, 1967 in Bozen, South Tyrol, Italy ) is an Italian director and author.

Life

In Bozen Pichler graduated from ZeLIG television and film school. He later studied film and cultural studies at the Universitá degli Studi di Bologna . He completed his studies at the Free University of Berlin with a master's degree in philosophy . During his studies he made several short and dance films as well as video installations. He has been working full-time in the documentary film sector since the late 1990s and in the feature film sector since 2012 . Many of his films have been shown at numerous international film festivals and have won awards.

In 2004 he won the Grimme Prize for the documentary Call me Babylon about work in call centers . In the same year he founded Miramonte Film with Valerio B. Moser as a creative workshop that develops documentaries and produces them internationally. Pichler works in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. In 2012 he founded ECHO Film with Karl Baumgartner and others.
