The musician recorded the album for the most part in Tehran , where he stayed for two months thanks to a scholarship. Spechtl was particularly interested in changing his perspective, as he explained to Deutschlandfunk : "For a year now I had the idea of traveling to one of the countries where European fear is concentrated and of living there longer ( ...) and in the best case, to get something of the life from there. ”Spechtl's third solo record Strategies was partly made in Mexico. The Taz writes about the album: "In the second track," The Separate ", the sheer amount of artistic expression, from Kraftwerk to Michael Rother, faces people who" darken themselves ". The romanticism of the music carries boxing matches with the biographies of Spechtl's companions Listeners can literally see the neon lights on the ceilings of the rooms in which “The Separate” is being staged as a contemporary drama. It can tear the heart apart in a way like Mimi's death in Puccini's opera “La Bohème”. "

BBC Radio 3 says about the album: "Andreas Spechtl offers a survival strategy for the new world in the form of motoric beats, catchy hooks and cutting lyrics."
