Andreas Verstappen

Andreas Verstappen (born December 11, 1960 in Willich ; Abbreviation : VerstAnd ) is a German author, illustrator, cartoonist, actor and cartoon researcher .

Life

After graduating from high school in Schiefbahn , Verstappen studied in Aachen , Münster and Vienna . Since then he has lived and worked in Oberhausen , Mainz and Freiburg . The focus of his artistic and scientific work is on short, comical narrative forms. In his thesis he developed a narrative theory for graphic-literary short forms using the example of the cartoons FK Waechter . His own cartoons have been published in the literary magazine Am Erker since the mid-1980s , of which he was co-editor from 1987 to 1992. He also worked for periodicals such as Kowalski , Titanic , Eulenspiegel , Exot and Haffmans Raben-Kalender . For the radio there were bizarre and comical series such as “The Holderbachs” and “Sagenhaft”; for the television the “handicraft lesson with Theo Rettich”. In the figure of Theo Rettich, as an executioner or poet Joseph Freiherr von Auffenberg , he appears regularly for “Historix Tours” in Freiburg. Pieces were created for the stage such as "The Passage" (first performance in 1999), arrangements of pieces by other authors (such as "Erasmus vom quieten Winkel" by Kurt Heynicke ) or the children's musical "Der Trosaunist von Säckingen". He is chairman of the theater79merzhausen eV He played comic main roles a. a. in "He wants to make a joke" by Johann Nestroy and "Arsenic and lace bonnet" by Joseph Kesselring.
