Der Rabe was a literary magazine in pocket book format , which appeared in 63 editions between 1982 and 2001 by Haffmans Verlag , Zurich.

The raven was one of the essential organs not only of Haffmans Verlag, but also of the authors of the New Frankfurt School , who published there such as Eckhard Henscheid , Robert Gernhardt or FW Bernstein . There were also younger authors such as Max Goldt , Tex Rubinowitz , Margit Schreiner and Fanny Müller .

In addition to contemporary German authors, Der Rabe has always published texts by newer British and American authors such as Julian Barnes or Kinky Friedman .

There were also special issues for individual authors such as the Arno Schmidt raven (No. 12) or the Karl May raven (No. 27). Otherwise, most of the issues had a thematic focus, for example letters, politics or film. Culinary and literary texts were published in four issues of the sister magazine Die Rübe from 1988 to 1992 .

After the bankruptcy of Haffmans Verlag in 2001, Der Rabe has since been discontinued. In 2005, to coincide with Harry Rowohlt's 60th birthday, No. 64 was published The Harry-Rowohlt-Rabe as a glued-on encore to a new edition of Harry Rowohlt's Pooh's Corner at Two Thousand One . In 2007 Der Rabe 65 appeared as a three-part raven ( future raven , European raven , jubilation raven ) in the Haffmans at two thousand and one series . Another raven appeared in 2019 as a commemorative publication for the 75th birthday of Gerd Haffmans as number 75 in a larger format (there are no numbers 66-74).

As before, however, the raven calendar appears , a daily tear-off calendar with contemporary and historical quotations , caricatures and other content.
