Miklavc gained his first international experience in the years 1987 to 1989 when he took part in three Junior World Championships, where he came in ninth three times. Although he still had no countable result in the Ski World Cup , he was allowed to take part in the 1992 Winter Olympics. On December 6, 1992, he won the first World Cup points as the 22nd slalom in Val-d'Isère . The best performance in the following season he achieved at the 1994 Winter Olympics with tenth place in the slalom.
At the beginning of 1995, Miklavc also made it into the top ten for the first time in the World Cup. He had the most successful season in 1995/96 . Surprisingly, he won the slalom in Park City on November 26, 1995 . Four more top 10 classifications followed, but also numerous failures. At the 1996 World Cup , he finished fifth, and that year he also won the Slovenian Slalom championship. In the 1996/97 World Cup winter three sixth places remained his best results.
In the 1997/98 season Miklavc drove in World Cup slalom twice in fifth place, while he was eliminated at the 1998 Winter Olympics in slalom. In the European Cup , he finished fourth in the slalom classification this winter. Due to an injury, he then had to take a year off. As a result, he could not quite reach his usual level. In 1999/2000 he did not get beyond 15th place, in 2000/01 a twelfth place was his best result. In December 2001, Miklavc resigned from elite sport.
