Andrew Buchan (born February 19, 1979 in Stockport , England ) is a British actor .

Life

Andrew Buchan grew up in the Lostock district of Bolton and attended high school in Horwich . Before starting his acting career, he first worked in a number of other professions, including working at an amusement park and at Manchester Airport . In 2001 he graduated from the University of Durham with a successful degree in languages. He then attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art .

As an actor he is active in both the stage and television sectors. In 2005 he appeared in the role of Mercutio in the play Romeo and Juliet at the Manchester Theater . His television career began in 2006 when he appeared on the Jane Eyre series as St. John Rivers in an episode. In 2007 he played one of the leading roles in the eight-part television production Party Animals . In the same year he was also included in the cast list of the drama series Cranford and was seen alongside well-known stars such as Judi Dench , Imelda Staunton and Eileen Atkins .

From 2008 to 2009 he played the lead role of John Mercer in the ITV series The Fixer . In the same year he also took on a supporting role in the biopic Nowhere Boy , which describes the life story of John Lennon . Also in 2009, he played the lead role of historical politician William Garrow in the four-part BBC series Garrow's Law . In 2011 he played one of the leading roles in the German-British co-production Laconia , which describes the sinking of the ship of the same name . Another leading role (Mark Latimer) was cast in the ITV series Broadchurch with Buchan.
