Andrew Owens

Andrew Owens (* before 2000 in Philadelphia ) is an American opera singer with a tenor voice .

life and work

Owens graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music , the Maryland Opera Studio and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara . He was an apprentice artist at the Central City Opera in Colorado , a member of the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and a participant in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival . He took master classes a. a. with Dominic Cossa , Enrico Di Giuseppe , Salvatore Fisichella and Gioacchino Lauro Li Vigni . From 2012 to 2014 he was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Theater an der Wien and sang smaller roles in the historical building as well as leading roles in the Vienna Chamber Opera . In the rarely performed Rossini -opera La cambiale di matrimonio he embodied the 2012 Edoardo, in a short version of Puccini's La Bohème to Rudolfo and in the critically acclaimed production of Semiramide by Leonardo da Vinci to Scitalce. Shortly before Christmas 2013 he could be heard as Don Ramiro in Rossini's La cenerentola . He was finally able to achieve a great personal success in April 2014 in the title role of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's La clemenza di Tito in the chamber opera.

Owens could be heard in the concert hall with the tenor solos in Bach's B minor Mass , Schumann's scenes from Goethe's Faust and Puccini's Messa a quattro voci , as well as Lukas in Haydn's Die Jahreszeiten . He kicked u. a. at a Rossini gala at the Munich Opera Festival and in concerts by Bertrand de Billy , Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Franz Welser-Möst .
