Andrzej Przyłębski (born May 14, 1958 in Chmielnik, Kramsk municipality , Poland ) is a Polish philosopher , translator , cultural scientist and diplomat , who has been the ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Federal Republic of Germany since 2016 .

Career

After graduating from high school in Koło , Przyłębski studied philosophy and social sciences at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan . His master's thesis in 1982 dealt with Martin Heidegger , his doctoral thesis in 1987 with Emil Lask, who was born in Wadowice .

As a scholarship holder of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation , he worked under the direction of Hans-Georg Gadamer and Reiner Wiehl at the University of Heidelberg on the habilitation thesis on the Baden School of Neo-Kantianism .

As a scholarship holder of the Conference of Rectors of the German Academies of Sciences in Berlin, he worked on the hermeneutical theory of history at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1994 under the direction of Volker Gerhardt . In 1995 he translated Georg Simmel's "Philosophy of Money" in Vienna .

From 1996 to 2001 he worked in Berlin as a cultural and scientific attaché for the Polish embassy. Since 2002 he has held the post of professor at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

In 2003 and 2006 to 2007 he was visiting professor of philosophy at the Technical University of Chemnitz .

From 2004 to 2010 he was deputy chairman of the International Hegel Society and co-editor of the Hegel yearbook. From 2003 to 2011 he was a member of the Committee of Philosophical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences .

In November 2015, President Andrzej Duda appointed him a member of the National Development Council. On July 29, 2016, he was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Federal Republic of Germany to succeed Jerzy Margański .

On March 3, 2017, the Warsaw press announced that the Institute for National Remembrance had a collection of files on Przyłębski's cooperation with the Polish Security Service. The Gazeta Wyborcza showed signed of his obligation to cooperate under the code name "Wolfgang" with the date June 9 1979. Andrzej Przyłębski confirmed that he had signed the commitment, but denied that he had then actually collaborated with the security services. On August 25, 2017, the Institute for National Remembrance stated that there was no doubt about the truth of the declaration made by the ambassador.

His wife Julia Przyłębska is a lawyer; she worked as a judge at various courts. On December 21, 2016, she was appointed President of the Constitutional Court by President Andrzej Duda .
