Andy Carter
Andy Carter (actually Andrew William Carter; born January 29, 1949 in Exeter ) is a former British middle-distance runner who was also used in the 4 x 400 meter relay because of his sprint strength .
Over 800 m he reached the semi-finals at the European Athletics Championships in Athens in 1969 and won bronze in Helsinki in 1971 . Over the same distance, he came in sixth place at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.
At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974, he was fifth and 800 m and won silver in the English 4 x 400 meter relay.
In 1970, 1972 and 1973 he became English champion over 800 m.
